Kids and Family Kung Fu

Kung Fu for the Family: Train Together – Grow Together

At Mantis Kung Fu Academy, we believe that family is the cornerstone of both personal growth and the preservation of our traditional Southern Praying Mantis Martial Art. We are passionate about creating a space where children and families can come together to train, grow, and experience the numerous benefits that martial arts offer.

We invite you to join us and experience firsthand the positive impact of training as a family, especially for your children.

Through Kung Fu, you’ll see instant improvements in their personal development, preparing them for the challenges they’ll face through school, teenage years, and adulthood. As they train, you’ll watch their concentration, self-confidence, discipline, and respect for others grow. Their coordination and physical movement will also be enhanced, setting them up for success in various areas of life.

Training as a family also fosters teamwork and builds strong bonds, which is one of the key ingredients in shaping your child to become a leader within themselves and in their community.

Sifu and our dedicated instructors take great pride in delivering these life-changing benefits in a safe, friendly, and controlled environment.

We also offer Anti-Bullying Programs and encourage you to visit our Lion Dancing page to learn how your children can get involved in another exciting, family-friendly activity.

We truly enjoy watching families grow together—not only in martial arts skills but also in life skills and relationships.

Structured Anti-Bullying Resilience Program: M.A.N.T.I.S
Manage, Acknowledge, Negotiate, Tolerate, Identify, Safety

For students of all ages, the M.A.N.T.I.S Anti-Bullying Resilience Program has been developed by Sifu of the Mantis Kung Fu Academy, drawing on the principles of Southern Praying Mantis Martial Art to address the growing issue of bullying in schools.

This program is designed to support schools, victims of bullying, and even the children at risk of bullying—the bullies themselves. Under Sifu’s expert guidance, M.A.N.T.I.S provides a comprehensive framework to help children build resilience, resolve conflicts, and cultivate positive relationships.

The M.A.N.T.I.S approach—Manage, Acknowledge, Negotiate, Tolerate, Identify, Safety—teaches values that are central to the study of martial arts, such as honesty, kindness, generosity, and respect for oneself, parents, elders, and teachers. The program equips children with the skills and knowledge they need to protect themselves from bullying, while also addressing the root causes of bullying behavior.

A core aspect of the M.A.N.T.I.S Anti-Bullying Resilience Program is the belief that bullies are often the children most in need of support. This program is sensitive to their needs and is effective in helping them understand the consequences of their actions, ultimately fostering a safer and more supportive environment for everyone.

By teaching children to manage conflict, acknowledge their feelings, and negotiate peacefully, the M.A.N.T.I.S program empowers them to create positive change and develop resilience that lasts a lifetime.

M = Manage Children learn to manage any situation by recognising the triggers that foster bullying behaviours. Children also learn what techniques are required to diffuse bullying situations.

A = Acknowledge Children learn that they need to acknowledge their emotions. They learn that certain emotions are negative and accept that the negative energy can be turned into positive energy.

N = Negotiate Negotiation strategies provide children with options. Children will learn ways to diffuse and de-escalate possible harmful situations, whilst maintaining control.

T = Tolerate By learning tolerance, children accept that people act, look and engage in ways that are different to their own.

I = Identify Children will identify situations that are possibly dangerous. Verbal and physical indicators are identified which enable children to accept when he/she needs to enact the skills learnt in the M.A.N.T.I.S Resilience Program.

S = Safety Understanding safety and safe practises is essential to the M.A.N.T.I.S Anti-Bullying Resilience Program. Children will learn how to identify danger and techniques that will allow them to maintain and secure their safety.
